About SJK (C) Chi Wen
SJK (C) Chi Wen, originally established as a reading room on January 1, 1912, was originally located in Ujong Pasir Labuan. The school commenced operations in 1913 under the leadership of Headmaster Mr. Ling Zhi Zhong. The local Chinese community’s dedication to providing a better Chinese school for their children led to the rental of a shop for this purpose. In the same year, the first School Management Board Authority Position was successfully established.
In 1941, Chi Wen School had to temporarily close due to the outbreak of the Second World War. Thanks to the efforts of the local Chinese community, the school reopened in 1945. In 1954, the school was relocated to Jalan Okk Abdullah in Labuan.
In 1987, the school was upgraded to a Grade A institution. Today, under the leadership of Puan Teh Geik Sim, Head Teacher of SJK (C) Chi Wen, and Mr. Peter Ling, Chairman of the School Management Board, the school continues to progress towards excellence.
