About ASEAN Common Carbon Framework Workshop

The ASEAN Common Carbon Framework Workshop took place on March 20, 2025, at the prestigious Four Seasons Hotel in Kuala Lumpur. This impactful event brought together policymakers, sustainability experts, and industry leaders from across the ASEAN region. Organized by the Malaysia Carbon Market Association (MCMA), Equatorise Advisory, and the ASEAN-UK Green Transition Fund, the workshop aimed to build a transparent and interoperable carbon market across Southeast Asia.

From the beginning, participants engaged in deep discussions about regional cooperation and the harmonization of carbon credit standards. In fact, the keynote address by Malaysia’s Minister of Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability, Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad, underscored Malaysia’s commitment to environmental goals. He also highlighted initiatives such as the National Climate Change Bill and a National Carbon Market Policy, aligning with the Paris Agreement’s Article 6.

Moreover, several distinguished speakers added valuable insights. Dr. Renard Siew of MCMA, Her Excellency Sarah Tiffin, and ASEAN Deputy Secretary-General Satvinder Singh emphasized the economic and environmental benefits of this framework. They projected that ASEAN’s carbon market could reach US$3 trillion by 2050 while creating millions of jobs and avoiding over 1,000 megatonnes of CO₂ emissions.

Most importantly, five regional carbon market associations signed a memorandum of collaboration. This formal agreement marked a collective step toward a unified and competitive carbon trading ecosystem in ASEAN. Through ongoing partnerships and structured efforts, the workshop established a solid foundation for climate action and sustainable growth in the region.

Big Screen Media was beyond grateful to be given the opportunity to set up the P2.5 Indoor LED Screen, which has a screen size of 4.5 meters (W) x 2.5 meters (H) for Malaysia Carbon Market Association at Four Seasons Hotel Kuala Lumpur. This was part of the support team’s efforts in providing LED screen rental services for the event ASEAN Common Carbon Framework Workshop.
