About Shah Alam Buddisht Society
The Shah Alam Buddhist Society (SABS) was officially registered on December 15, 1990, in Sri Muda, with the first Management Committee established on January 13, 1991. Over the years, as the society’s activities expanded, so did its membership, making it clear that the existing premises were inadequate. In April 2003, SABS acquired a one-acre plot in Bukit Rimau, Shah Alam, from the Selangor State Government to establish a Buddhist temple. Under the leadership of President Dato Vincent Lim, the society embarked on a fundraising campaign to expedite the temple’s completion. Construction began on January 16, 2005, following a groundbreaking ceremony. Significant milestones included the planting of the Bodhi Tree and Sala Tree from Sri Lanka on April 22, 2007, the consecration of the Shakyamuni Buddha statue on April 29, 2007, and the celebration of Wesak on May 1, 2007. Regular activities, including Dharma Talks and the Sunday Dharma School, began on July 15, 2007. In 2007, under Dato Vincent Lim’s guidance, the Committee adopted the ISO 9001 Quality Management System to create a well-documented management system inspired by the Dharma, achieving ISO 9001:2015 certification after two years of dedicated effort.
