TNB Research Sdn. Bhd. (TNBR) has been the dedicated in-house solution provider for Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) since 1993. Located in Kajang, Selangor, TNBR serves as a centralized R&D hub, offering innovative technical solutions to enhance TNB’s operational performance.
Over the years, TNBR has introduced a range of solutions developed through Applied Research projects. These initiatives have significantly contributed to reducing power plant unplanned outage rates, improving transmission system minutes, and optimizing the distribution system’s average interruption duration index (SAIDI), among other key operational metrics.
In addition to driving operational improvements, TNBR is advancing into various Advanced Research projects to position TNB as an early adopter of emerging technologies. TNBR is also involved in projects of national importance, such as the Floating Solar Project, which led to the installation of a floating solar system at Labu Lake.
In 2012, TNBR established a subsidiary, TNBR QATS Sdn. Bhd., to provide world-class services to industries. Renamed TNB Labs Sdn. Bhd. in 2019, this subsidiary continues to deliver cutting-edge solutions that reflect TNBR’s commitment to innovation and excellence.
