World Sight Day 2025 brought renewed attention to eye health as the Jabatan Oftalmologi of Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital led an impactful community initiative. From the start, the programme encouraged early detection, stronger awareness, and healthier habits among people from all age groups. In addition, the team focused on high-risk individuals, including seniors and those living with diabetes, because early care can prevent severe vision problems.
Moreover, specialists provided free screenings that identified potential issues before they worsened. They also offered clear explanations that helped participants understand the importance of regular checkups. As a result, many individuals gained confidence to take charge of their eye health. At the same time, the programme highlighted lifestyle habits that support long term vision protection.
Furthermore, public health leaders shared important data that showed improvement in the region. The northern zone recorded a lower blindness rate among older adults, and this achievement motivated healthcare teams to continue their outreach work. Community partners also joined the programme to expand awareness through school activities, neighbourhood events, and fitness-based campaigns such as Walk Against Blindness.
Consequently, families learned practical steps to protect their eyesight, including managing chronic illnesses, reducing screen time, and using proper eye protection. These reminders helped reinforce stronger habits across communities.
Ultimately, the celebration inspired Malaysians to value their vision and prioritise preventive care. Clearly, the collective effort created a meaningful movement that strengthened public understanding and promoted healthier lives for everyone.
Big Screen Media was beyond grateful to be given the opportunity to set up the P2.5 Indoor LED Globe, which has a diameter screen size 1 meters for Jabatan Oftalmologi, Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital at WEIL Hotel, Ipoh. This was part of the support team’s efforts in providing LED screen rental services for event World Sight Day 2025.
