About Sultan Ahmad Shah Medical Centre
Emerging from the 2010 budget speech by the Malaysian Prime Minister, the vision for Sultan Ahmad Shah Medical Centre took shape with the announcement of IIUM Medical Centre. Following meticulous coordination among federal and state agencies, agreements were finalized in 2011 with a budget of 412 million.
Built under the Private Funding Initiative (PFI) with a 25-year concession agreement, this medical facility spans 27.8 acres, boasting 350 beds and over 133 specialists. Beyond healthcare, it serves as a teaching hospital and referral centre, aligning with the medical and allied health faculty.
Inaugurated on December 12, 2012, by His Royal Highness, the Sultan of Pahang, Sultan Ahmad Shah Al-Musta’in Billah, the medical centre was handed over to IIUM on May 9, 2016. This success is a result of the meticulous efforts and coordination by IIUM and relevant agencies. Sultan Ahmad Shah Medical Centre, a beacon of healthcare innovation, continues to redefine standards for community well-being.
