Chapter 1
Introduction To LED Display
According to MarketsandMarkets, the global large format display market is projected to hit USD 18 billion by 2026.
One of the main drivers is the wide adoption of commercial-grade LED displays in the education, advertising, real estate, and entertainment sectors.
In this chapter, we are going to explain what an LED display is. We will get you ready in understanding and utilizing the LED display technology in your business.
Let’s dive in.
What is an LED Display?
An LED display is a digital display that uses LEDs or light emitting diodes as the light source.
A digital display is very different from other traditional displays such as banners, billboards, and posters.
A digital display can display various digital formats such as images, videos, graphics, animations, and texts.
Most traditional displays can only display static formats such as printed images and texts.
A large LED display or LED screen is made of multiple LED display modules. An LED display module is a small display panel that houses many tiny LED lamps (or LED chips) and other electronic components.
Depending on the pixel pitch of the LED display, the LED display module can have different sizes.
Some of the common module sizes are:
- 320 x 160mm
- 160 x 160mm
- 128 x 128mm
- 192 x 192mm
An LED display is modular. The large screen can be constructed with higher flexibility. Technically, we can achieve any large-format screen size. It depends on how many LED display modules are used.
What is an LED?
LED stands for ‘light emitting diode’. It is a semiconductor device with two electrodes. It can emit light when electric current flows through it.
In the early days, LEDs were mainly used as indicators in electrical appliances and devices due to the low brightness level.
As LED technology advances, LEDs are now available in various colors. It can also produce high-intensity light. Today, LEDs are widely used in lighting and display applications.
Some of the most common light colors of light emitting diode are white, red, green, blue, and yellow. The wavelength of the light emitted will determine the light color.
The closest competitor of LED display technology is LCD display technology.
LCD stands for ‘liquid crystal display’. It is a flat display that uses liquid crystals to produce images.
Being coined as the predecessor of LED, LCD is still considered one of the most-used lighting technologies in the market.
LCD video wall.
Despite strong competition from the LED display, LCD technology is still widely used in consumer digital devices, computer monitors, smartphone screens, and commercial-grade digital displays.
However, LCD display has some obvious disadvantages when it is compared to the LED display.
LCD vs LED Display
The obvious difference between LCD display and LED display is the underlying lighting technology used.
LCD display uses liquid crystals with either fluorescent or LED backlighting. On the other hand, LED display uses light emitting diode.
LED display generates its own light, but LCD display relies on external lighting. Hence, LED display can always provide better image quality than LCD display.
LED display offers brighter picture with higher contrast ratio than a conventional LCD display. A high level of screen brightness is extremely crucial especially when the display is used in a well-lit environment.
When the ambient light is brighter than the screen brightness, the display will appear dimmer, and it can affect the viewing experience badly.
Screen brightness is often measured in nit or candela. Outdoor LED screen is brighter than indoor LED screen. The outdoor LED screen usually produces a brightness level of 3,000 to 8,000 nits. It can go even higher for some situations especially when there is a direct sun.
LED Display also provides vivid picture with better color quality. This is because LEDs can produce a wide spectrum of colors. Thus, it can offer true-color pictures that are pretty similar to what you experience in real life.
Both LCD display and LED display are often used in the video wall application. Video wall is created by combining multiple displays or panels in a tile layout pattern. It helps to form a large-format digital display.
Most businesses will choose LCD wall since LED wall is generally more expensive.
However, when LCD panels are used to form a video wall, the visible bezels between panels can create an uncomfortable viewing experience.
Unlike LCD panels, LED display modules have thinner bezels. Thus, an LED wall can provide a seamless viewing experience. The lines between modules will appear less obvious on an LED wall.
LCD video wall vs LED wall.
In terms of lifespan, LED display has a longer lifespan than LCD display. However, the lifespan of an LED display is also largely affected by other factors such as ambient temperature, heat dissipation and power supply.
Factors that Affect Lifespan of An LED Display
A. Ambient Temperature & Heat Dissipation
The power consumption of an indoor LED display can be different from the power consumption of an outdoor LED display. This is largely due to the difference in ambient temperature.
Higher ambient temperature can increase the working temperature of an LED display.
If the issue is prolonged, high temperature can reduce the lifespan of internal components. If overheating occurs, it can cause malfunction or failure of the device.
There are many ways in achieving effective heat dissipation. Fans or air conditioners can be installed to help to dissipate heat faster.
Besides, surface radiation treatment can apply the radiation paint on the heat sink and the outer shell of the LED display. It can help to cool down the surface via heat radiation.
B. Power Supply
Every single electronic device has its own recommended power requirement. An LED display is no exception.
A well-tuned configuration and installation can help to maximize the power output without affecting the display’s lifespan.
Hence, it is extremely important for any business to seek professional advice from a trustworthy LED display solution provider.
Chapter 2
Types of LED Display
There are many variations of LED displays in the market. We can categorize LED display products by the applications, whether it is an indoor or outdoor application.
Besides, we can also categorize LED displays by the types of LED package.
In this chapter, we will look at the four most common types of LED package in the market – DIP, SMD, GOB, and COB LED packages.
Here’s what you need to know.
DIP LED
DIP LED or dual in-line package LED is one of the earliest LED packages in the market. Instead of LED chips, traditional LED bulbs are used in manufacturing the DIP LED display.
If you look closely at the surface of the LED display module, you can find the protruding LED bulbs of three different colors (red, green, and blue) are lining tidily on the display panel.
Red, green, and blue LEDs shape the foundation of an LED color display. But why RGB?
Red, green, and blue are the primary colors. They are colors that can be mixed to create any color.
A combination of red, blue, and green colors will produce the full white color.
When the RGB color model is applied in the DIP LED display technology, any color can be produced easily by changing how each LED is lit.
For example, we know that a combination of red and blue will produce the magenta color. To display a magenta pixel, only the blue and the red LEDs will light up.
What if we want to produce a full white color?
All three LEDs will light up at their full strength to create white light.
A pixel consists of a red LED, a green LED, and a blue LED. Each LED within a pixel is called a sub-pixel.
The biggest advantage of a DIP LED display is it can produce a brighter picture than other LED displays.
Thus, DIP LED display is commonly used in outdoor applications. The brighter picture can help to maintain the visibility of the digital display even under direct sunlight.
Outdoor LED screens and digital billboards are some of the products that use the DIP LED packages.
Another reason that a DIP LED display is used mainly as an outdoor billboard is its narrow viewing angle. DIP LED display is seldom used indoors.
If a DIP LED display is used indoors, its narrow viewing angle is a huge disadvantage. But what exactly is a viewing angle? We will discuss it in detail later.
In short, the viewing angle is the maximum angle at which the viewer can still enjoy the video content with acceptable picture quality. If the viewer is viewing outside of the viewing angle, the picture will appear darker and less saturated.
When an LED display is placed at indoor venues such as retail malls and building lobbies, you cannot control how viewers should view the content.
Your viewers can come from different directions. They are also free to choose their preferred viewing positions.
It means there is no guarantee of delivering the best viewing experience to every single viewer. If your viewers are not viewing the content within the acceptable viewing angle, the downgraded picture quality might turn them away.
However, DIP LED display with a narrow viewing angle is not an issue when it is used as a digital billboard.
This is because digital billboards are targeting car drivers and passengers. Road traffic is always coming in only one direction – the direction that is facing right at the digital billboard.
SMD LED
SMD stands for surface-mounted device. Instead of LED bulbs, LED chips are used in SMD LED displays.
Red LED, green LED, and blue LED are regrouped into a single point – an LED chip.
An LED chip is smaller than an LED bulb. Hence, more LED chips can now fit into a display panel. When the pixel density is high, a high-resolution display is achievable.
In 2021, SMD LED has the largest market share in the global LED market. The LED packaging technique is used widely in various devices, such as indoor LED displays, smartphones, TVs, and lighting devices.
SMD LED is the most popular choice of LED display in the market.
Unlike DIP LED display, SMD LED display has a wider viewing angle. Hence, it is often used in various indoor applications.
GOB LED
GOB stands for glue-on-board. When GOB LED display was introduced to the market years ago, it created hype.
Consumers and industry players were overjoyed. They were optimistic about the possibilities that GOB LED display can bring to the market.
However, some industry players have different opinions. While they agree that GOB LED display has some improved features that could be useful for some applications, they do not see GOB LED display as “The Next Big Thing”.
GOB LED display is merely an upgraded version of the SMD LED display. But why?
First, there is no obvious difference in the packaging technique involved when compared to SMD LED display.
Second, there is no obvious improvement in terms of picture quality.
GOB LED display is considered a SMD LED display that has better protection features. In short, GOB LED display is a “more durable version” of SMD LED display.
GOB LED display utilizes the application of transparent glue protection. Transparent glue is applied to the surface of the LED display. The glue provides a protective shield that can protect the LED display from liquid, dust, and collision.
Besides, the glue can also contribute to better heat dissipation. It helps to maintain an acceptable range of working temperatures and thus avoid a decrease in lifespan.
GOB LED is widely used for fine-pitch LED displays and transparent LED displays. Both LED displays have very small LEDs to achieve higher resolutions. Smaller LEDs are more prone to damage.
By applying a layer of glue protection, it can minimize damage risk due to collisions.
Another common application is the rental service of LED displays. This is because LED screens are constantly moved, installed, disassembled, and transported for a rental business. Sometimes, collisions are unavoidable.
GOB LED packages can help to reduce the maintenance costs due to damage and collision.
COB LED
COB or chip-on-board LED display is one of the latest innovations in the LED display market.
SMD LED combines 3 light emitting diodes within a single chip, but COB LED can combine 9 or more diodes.
No matter how many diodes are soldered, a COB LED chip has only a circuit and two contacts. Thus, the failure rate is greatly reduced.
High screen brightness with lower power consumption is the biggest advantage of the COB LED display. COB LED display has the best power efficiency among all other types of LED display.
COB LED technology is widely used in various LED screen applications with finer pixel pitches. This is because COB LEDs are very small.
COB LED display panel can fit 38 times more LEDs than a DIP LED display panel of the same size.
More LEDs lead to high pixel density, and high pixel density leads to a high video resolution. COB LED technology is widely applied in manufacturing fine-pitch LED screens, mini LED screens, and micro LED screens.
In conclusion, at least for today, COB LED display delivers the highest video resolution with the best picture quality. We believe COB LED display is going to be the next big thing in the coming years.
Comparison of LED Packages
There is no such thing as the best LED display.
You need to look for the most suitable LED display instead. You need to look for an LED display that best suits your business and application.
The comparison table below highlights the differences between the four types of LED displays that we have discussed above.
Chapter 3
Pixel Pitch, Resolution, and Viewing Distance
There are some commonly used jargons or technical terminology in the LED display industry. Some of the jargons used are pixel pitch, resolution, viewing distance, and viewing angle.
As a user or customer, it is not necessary for you to learn the jargons. You can still use LED displays in your business application without any issue.
However, if you would like to know more about your equipment, there is no harm in learning some jargons.
Let’s dive in.
What is Pixel Pitch?
Remember the RGB LEDs or the LED chips that we have mentioned in the previous chapter?
Every single RGB LED or LED chip is a pixel. Pixel pitch is the distance between the centers of two adjacent pixels.
Pixel pitch is measured in millimeters (mm). An LED display with a pixel pitch of 2.5mm is commonly referred as a P2.5 LED display.
There are other LED displays such as P4 LED display, P5 LED display and P10 LED display. The digit that comes after the letter “P” indicates the pixel pitch of the LED display.
P4 LED display has a pixel pitch of 4mm, and P10 LED display has a pixel pitch of 10mm.
What is Resolution?
Resolution is the total number of pixels that could be displayed on an LED display.
Video resolution always comes in two numbers – the width and the height. Some of the common resolutions are 1920 x 1080 and 1280 x 720.
Full HD resolution has a dimension of 1920 x 1080. The “1920” indicates the width while the “1080” indicates the height.
But what role does the resolution play?
Resolution is directly related to the picture quality. High resolution can deliver sharper and better picture quality. This is because a high-resolution display has more pixels than a low-resolution display within the same screen size.
In digital imaging, a pixel is a sample of an image. A digital image is formed by multiple samples. When you have more samples, the image is more defined and thus it will look better.
What is Viewing Distance?
The optimal viewing distance is the distance where picture quality or the optimum viewing experience is maintained.
When you move closer to the LED screen and reach beyond the minimum viewing distance, the picture displayed will appear pixelated. This is the point where you will notice individual pixels on the LED display.
To identify the best viewing distance for your application, you need to consider the pixel pitch of the LED display used and the size of your room or space.
The minimum viewing distance will be shorter if the pixel pitch is smaller.
If your room is smaller, it is better to choose LED displays with smaller pixel pitch since they have a shorter viewing distance.
To calculate the minimum viewing distance, you only need to look at the pixel pitch. For example, if the pixel pitch is 5mm, the minimum viewing distance will be 5 meters.
To calculate the optimum viewing distance, you need to multiply the minimum viewing distance by 3.
How Screen Size Is Related to Pixel Pitch, Resolution & Viewing Distance
Pixel pitch, screen resolution, and viewing distance are some of the most important factors we need to consider when installing an LED screen.
These three factors are also greatly related to screen size.
When an LED expert receives an inquiry, he will start by asking the client some project information. One of the most critical pieces of information is the installation size.
The next important information is the room size. Room size can help the LED expert to determine the suggested pixel pitch, screen resolution, and viewing distance.
For example, if a small room is only 5 meters wide, it is illogical to install an LED screen with a pixel pitch that is more than 5mm. A P5 LED display has a minimum viewing distance of only 5 meters.
Let’s say the client wants to install an LED display on a wall with the size of 4.9m x 2.7m. It is a meeting room where the closest seat is located 3 meters from the screen.
Judging from the room size and the position of the closest audience, any pixel pitch that is smaller than 3mm is acceptable. This is because a pixel pitch of 3mm or smaller has a minimum viewing distance of 3 meters or below.
The next step is to identify the screen resolution. For any digital display, the three most common resolutions used are 720p HD, Full HD, and Ultra HD.
To find out the pixel pitch for a specific screen resolution, divide the screen size by the screen resolution.
After the calculation is made, the LED expert can conclude that both Full HD and Ultra HD are achievable by utilizing the available wall space fully. The recommended pixel pitches are 2.5mm and 1.25mm.
On the other hand, 720p HD is achievable too but the screen size must be decreased.
But of course, if the client wants to make maximum use of the available wall space, it is possible to build a larger P3 LED Screen with a screen resolution that is more than 720p but lower than full HD.
Finally, depending on the requirements and budget allocated, it is up to the client whether he or she wants to choose a P2.5 LED display or a P1.25 LED display.
Chapter 4
Viewing Angle
While many buyers do not pay attention to the viewing angle of the LED display, we think that it is extremely important to understand how viewing angle can affect the customer experience.
You are going to spend thousands or even millions on your LED display project. You are going to produce engaging and interesting content. And we are sure you do not want to ruin your campaign’s effectiveness due to some other factors that you might miss.
Allow us to explain the importance of viewing angle.
What is Viewing Angle?
The viewing angle is the maximum angle at which a viewer can still enjoy a viewing experience with acceptable quality.
Imagine you are watching a TV and you are sitting right in front of it. Viewing angle is not a big issue here.
But what if you are viewing off-center? The screen will look darker and less saturated. It is not displaying picture in its most accurate form anymore. The picture quality is downgraded.
The degree of viewing angle determines how “off-center” viewers can view the LED display. If the viewing angle is wide enough, viewers from most directions can still enjoy the content with acceptable picture quality.
One of the most mentioned viewing angles is the 178/178 angle.
The first 178 is the horizontal viewing angle, while the second 178 is the vertical viewing angle.
178/178 is considered the widest viewing angle available in the market. But do you really need to go for an ultra-wide viewing angle every time?
If your audience usually views the content right in front of the LED display, you do not need an LED display with a wide viewing angle. For example, a wide viewing angle is not necessary when you are installing an LED display in a conference hall where your audience is seated in front of the screen.
But if you are targeting foot traffic or moving audiences, you should consider an LED display with a wider viewing angle. For example, in a retail mall, your audience can view your content from different directions.
You cannot control where your audience stands and how your audience reacts to the screen. They might be viewing the content off-center.
Chapter 5
Refresh Rate
Information of refresh rate is commonly found in the technical specification sheets of most electronic displays such as TVs, PC monitors, and LED displays.
What is refresh rate? How important is the refresh rate of an LED display?
What is Refresh Rate?
Refresh rate measures the number of times a new image is drawn per second. It is measured in Hertz (Hz).
When the refresh rate is high, the more times the screen is updated or refreshed. For example, a refresh rate of 3,840Hz means the screen is refreshed 3,840 times per second.
Any refresh rate that is higher than 1,920Hz is considered a high refresh rate. The most common high refresh rates in the market are 1,920Hz and 3,840Hz.
Generally, a high refresh rate leads to a smoother display. But what does it mean?
Refresh rate information on a technical specification sheet.
Let’s do a simple experiment. Turn on your TV. Then, take a DSLR camera or a smartphone’s camera and record your TV screen. Do you see any black scan lines in the recorded video?
A low refresh rate will cause some issues to your LED screen applications. However, most of the time, these issues occur only when the content is recorded or captured by a camera.
If the LED display is involved in TV production, or if there is a high possibility that your audience will record the content, then it is recommended for you to consider an LED display with a high refresh rate.
Never underestimate the disadvantage of a low refresh rate. When the recorded video or photograph of your LED display content looks ugly, it will stop your audience from sharing your message online. Customer engagement will be affected greatly.
There are three ways in increasing the refresh rate of LED display:
- Get an LED display module that supports a high refresh rate
- Use a high-end driving IC
- Operate your LED display via a good LED control software
Chapter 6
LED Screen Brightness
A brighter screen will always offer greater advantages.
But does it necessary for you to invest heavily in LED displays with high screen brightness, all the time?
In this chapter, we will cover everything you need to know about screen brightness.
Screen Brightness
LED screen brightness is measured in nit. A nit equals a candela per square meter (cd/m2).
The higher the nits, the brighter the LED screen.
TV usually has screen brightness of around 200 nits. Indoor LED screen’s brightness is somewhere between 400 nits to 3,000 nits, while outdoor LED screen’s brightness can go up to 9,000 nits.
What can we tell from the difference in screen brightness between TV and LED screen?
TV is not designed for commercial applications. A TV screen is bright enough only to provide a comfortable viewing experience in a room. An interior room is generally darker when compared to a retail store or an outdoor venue.
What if a business uses a TV as a store’s window display?
Ambient light in a retail store includes all artificial and natural lighting that you can find in the store. When the ambient light is brighter than the TV screen, the TV screen will appear dimmer. There will be difficulties in reading the TV screen.
Therefore, we always recommend businesses to use LED screen or digital signage with greater screen brightness for better screen visibility.
Contrast Ratio
To understand more about the screen visibility, we also need to look at an important parameter – contrast ratio.
Contrast ratio is the ratio between the brightness level in the darkest black and the whitest white of an image. The larger the brightness difference, the higher the contrast ratio.
A contrast ratio of 2000:1 means that the brightness of full white image is 2,000 times higher than the brightness of a full black image.
An image with a high contrast ratio provides better image quality with vibrant colors. It has darker shadows and brighter highlights.
A low contrast ratio can make an image looks unsaturated or greyish, but it will appear brighter especially under a high ambient light condition.
In most cases, higher contrast ratio is preferred to ensure a stunning viewing experience. Since LED display’s screen brightness is adequate to cover most applications, there is no need to sacrifice the picture quality by lowering down the contrast ratio.
Is Higher Screen Brightness Always the Best?
To answer whether a higher screen brightness is always better, we need to understand a fact. The price is higher if the screen brightness is higher.
There is no such thing as the best brightness level. What we need to do is to find the most suitable brightness levels for different applications.
For example, if you are going to install a digital billboard beside of a busy highway, high screen brightness is extremely important. Exposure to direct sunlight will make the screen looks dimmer. Audience will have a tough time in reading the screen when the screen is not bright enough.
But what if you want to install an LED display indoors?
We suggest you take a great look at your surroundings. If there is ambient light that could cause reflection or glares on your display, increasing the screen brightness is a priority.
Ultimately, your goal is to benefit your audience. A good screen visibility can enhance the customer experience.
However, on the other hand, when the LED display is too bright and causes discomfort to your audience, then high screen brightness is merely a trouble.
Chapter 7
Installation Methods of LED Display
LED Display is a highly flexible and versatile digital display.
It can be installed in various ways to suit different applications or functions.
Let’s look at some of the common installation methods and find the one that suits your application the most.
Installation Methods
Some of the common installation methods are
- Wall Mounted Installation
- Wall Embedded Installation
- Ceiling Hung Installation
- Single-Pole or Double-Pole Installation
- Roof Installation
- Mobile LED Screen
A. Wall Mounted Installation
Wall mounted installation is one of the most favored LED display installations. It is easy to install. It is suitable for indoor, semi-outdoor and outdoor applications.
For indoor installation, a bracket will be mounted to the wall. Then, multiple LED screen modules will be installed onto the supporting bracket. Generally, this type of LED display adopts a front maintenance design. Individual LED screen module can be removed easily from the front.
For outdoor installation, a large and customized steel-frame support will be mounted to the building wall. This installation is commonly used for outdoor digital billboards. The installation adopts a rear maintenance design. A maintenance platform will be built and located between the wall and the LED screen.
B. Wall Embedded Installation
Wall embedded installation is suitable for both outdoor and indoor applications.
The LED display will be installed or embedded into the wall. The surface of the LED display will be aligned to the wall surface. The installation is a great choice for business who prefers a simple design.
The installation adopts a front maintenance design. However, it can be challenging for engineers. Engineers will need to make sure there is enough depth to embed both brackets and LED display into the wall.
C. Ceiling Hung Installation
Ceiling hung installation is the best installation method when it comes to space saving. It is suitable for indoor venues where there are heavy foot traffic, such as railway stations, passageways, event venues, and entrances.
However, since most ceilings are not originally designed to hang a large object such as an LED display, we need to avoid a large LED display.
D. Single-Pole or Double-Pole Installation
Single-pole or double-pole installation is mostly used for outdoor LED billboards. For a smaller LED screen, a single pole is used. For a larger LED screen, two poles will be used to provide stronger support.
Pole installation is more complicated than most indoor installations. Engineers need to assess the soil condition, the height of the structure, and the wind load.
A concrete foundation will need to be built before installing any pole. Hence, the installation requires adequate physical space.
However, pole installation provides an obvious advantage where the LED screen will be installed at a great height. The LED screen will not cause disturbance to nearby infrastructure or road traffic. The screen visibility is greatly enhanced too even though the audience is far away from the screen.
E. Roof Installation
Roof installation can enhance the screen visibility greatly since it is installed high from the ground. The viewing distance can be increased.
One of the toughest issues that engineers will need to deal with is the wind load.
Roof installation is often found in urban areas that are crowded with high-rise buildings.
F. Mobile LED Screen
Mobile LED applications are getting popular in recent years. LED screens can be installed on vehicles.
The vehicles can then move around with the installed LED screens and display whatever content or message that businesses want to convey.
This is a new form of LED advertising.
To operate an LED screen on a moving vehicle, we need to use power generators and inverters to provide sufficient power.
Chapter 8
IP Rating
You understand that LED displays can be used for both indoor and outdoor applications.
You understand that outdoor LED displays will need to have enough protection against rainwater, dust, and extreme weather.
But how do you determine whether an outdoor LED display is “well-protected”?
In this chapter, we will talk about the IP Rating – an important standard that is used to rate the sealing effectiveness of an LED display.
What is IP Rating?
Ingress Protection rating or IP rating is a standard set by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC). The standard is recognized by industry players and is widely adopted globally.
It is used to measure the sealing effectiveness of an LED display against external intrusions such as moisture and dust.
How to Read IP Code?
IP rating is always written in two digits, such as IP32, IP52, and IP68.
To understand the IP rating, we need to look at the two digits and refer to the IP Rating Guide.
The first digit indicates the protection level against solid objects such as dust or tiny rocks. It can go from 0 to 6. 0 refers to the lowest protection level (no protection) while 6 refers to the highest protection level.
For example, an IP54-rated LED display has a greater protection degree against solid objects than an IP32-rated LED display. An IP54-rated LED display is protected against very small objects such as dust. However, an IP32-rated LED display only provides protection against objects that is larger than 2.5mm.
The second digit indicates the protection level against liquid. It can go from 0 to 8.
Low IP Rating vs High IP Rating
While a high IP rating indicates a stronger protection level against both solid and liquid, it does not mean a low IP-rated LED display is a worthless investment.
Ask yourself a question. Do you need a high IP-rated LED display if you are going to install it indoors?
Bear in mind that a high IP-rated LED display costs more than a low IP-rated LED display.
A low IP-rated LED display is suitable to be installed indoors. The display is not exposed to rain and extreme weather. An indoor LED display only needs minimum protection against minor collisions.
On the other hand, since outdoor LED display is exposed to harsh weather and risky environment, a high IP-rated display is preferred.
The ideal IP rating for an outdoor LED screen should be IP65 or at least IP54. An IP65-rated LED display is well-protected against heavy rain, dust, airborne and other solid objects.
Chapter 9
Applications of LED Display
The features of an LED display do not tell the full story of how powerful an LED display is.
An LED display is powerful only when it can provide benefits and help businesses to solve their problems.
In this chapter, we will discuss how businesses can use LED displays to achieve their business goals.
Indoor & Outdoor Applications
The applications of LED displays can be categorized into two main categories – indoor and outdoor applications.
